After nearly a month of waiting, it's finally time for the next blogpost! And a great day for it, too, since iit's Valentine's Day! (assuming you don't live in Australia or something when this releases) May your day be filled with sugary sweets, and resistance to ill feelings from eating too many! But, Valentines celebrations aren't what you're here for (unless you wanted a Valentine's Day patch for Main Tribute, in which case sorry). Let's get into the new content!
To start us off, I'm proud to officially announce that both FNaF 1 and FNaF 3 are in a release-candidate state! "What does this mean?", you may ask, and I'll quickly clarify: the other devs can polish these two maps up as they see fit, but they're now in a state where they could be released! FNaF 2 has just started its remake, and none of FNaF 4 has been tackled, but hey, it's progress. Expect to see 1 and 3 in the nnear-future (like lower down on the page!)
Now then, given how substantial of a milestone this is, I ffeel now is an appropriate time to give you guys your first real look at the game in motion! So far you've only gotten glimpses at what's being added, but never a real look at how it all comes together. Well, let's end that here! Please keep in mind, however, that everything you see here isn't final. While things will likely stay the same from now to release, there's no guarantees. With that said, let's delve into the main menu!
So, right now, the main menu feels a liittle empty, but that's mainly because we haven't figured out what to put on the right-hand side of the screen. We'll have it sorted by launch, though (there's still a loooooooong way to go...). You may also notice the two blank buttons. Those were actually edited to be blank in post, I'll leave you to speculate what they could be. ;)
Next up, the roster menu! As you can see, we ditched the layout Tribute currently has for something a lot more user-friendly! Innstead of using a button at the top of the screen to switch categories and then clicking the left/right buttons until you reach your character, you now just scroll through the list on the right to find your category, click on the character's icon, and presto!
Once you pick a character from the roster, you'll end up on a screen that looks like this! They don't appear in this screenshot, but the skin system is implemented! The selection for them wiill appear above the character info panel if that character has any. Once you're happy with your selected character, you can then select your map, which works a bit differently to how it does in Tribute right now. Map selection happens after you pick a character, rather than being something you also do on the title screen. So what does map selection look like? Well...
It looks like this! First, you pick what map you want to play, then you pick from a list of locations. The major (and obvious) upgrade here is that you get a live feed of the area you have selected, allowing you to more easily figure out where everyone's roleplaying! The buttons on the side also fade in if you hover over them, and fade out if your mouse leaves tthem. Pick your spawn, then load in to begin playing the game!
And this is the game's overlay! Let's knock a few obvious things out of the way: the eever-faithful parts counter has retained its spot in the bottom left corner! There's also a header to the GUI, with a little noob friend! That's not just for show, as pressing that button gives you access to the admin bar (mobile players rejoice)! You can still access it by pressing ; if you're on PC, don't worry. Most critically, however, is the side-menu to the right. Let's start from the bottom and work our way up, shall we?
To kick off this overlay overview, we have the return of the abilities! Freddy here is kindly demonstrating his new (because we somehow completely forgot to give him this in main Tribute) microphone toggle! Of course, part toggles aren't the only type of abilities, as plenty of the abilities in main Tribute are already here! Sprinting, phasing, teleporting, and more are all ready! Not to mention we have a few new abilities as well, though I'll let you speculate what those could be as well.
Next up, animations! A little shocking how it took us this long to make an animation system, but uh... better late than never? Anyway, all characters have access to a preset list of animations, like sitting and crawling, and others may have extra animations only they can do on top of that. As a demonstration, we have a guard sitting in a chair! Where's he sitting, well, where do guards usually sit?
Oh right, before I forget, this new animation system has opened up some...
...potential expansions to maps, we'll say. Anyway, that just leaves one more section, and it's in my personal opinion the most interesting: RP info! Let's take a look at the menu for it to see what's done so far!
Like I said, this section's the most interesting! You can now have custom display names that hover over your character, with custom colors to boot! This color selection system could be made more friendly, but hey, that's what testing's for. As for the bio, it's rather simple! You can type in a custom description for your character (whether it's serious or silly is your pick), and when other people click on you...
They can see your bio in this nifty UI! The bio contains the RP name, username, character/skin icon, AND RP bio of whoever you want! Note: for a bio to appear, a player has to do something to cause the Overhead UI to appear, so if you just spawned in, players won't be able to click on you.
Of course, to end us off, I have to conclude with one of the new tracks created for the game... well, that's what would happen normally. As a treat for you guys on this special day (and to make up for, I'm gonna be honest, a real lack of substantial news in terms of Overhaul's development), you'll be receiving both FNaF 1 and FNaF 3! You can listen to FNaF 1's song, A Slice of Familiarity, here, and FNaF 3's song, A Tainted Museum, here!
That's it from me! If all goes well, you should see Radiant here at the very end of the month, so keep your eyes peeled! Take care!
